Okay so that... could have gone better.
Shortly after Lorna's kidnapping, the other X-Men had arrived at Hank's apartment. Apparently, Warren had been back at the mansion to go through some of the Professor's paperwork when Cerebro started acting, in his words, "all weird". So the other X-Men had assembled (without telling him, and wasn't that just fabulous?) and discovered that something- or more accurately someone- was drawing mutants to San Francisco. Which explained Lorna's arrival for sure, Bobby thought.
Especially when they tracked down where these mutants were being drawn and found her there. With Magneto. Who was apparently her father. Bobby had lost his temper rather spectacularly, resulting in a brawl that neither side could really claim as a victory.
"This isn't just about you, Bobby," Scott told him. "It's about all of us. You're exhausted- whatever that Mesmero guy did to you-"
"Oh, whatever," Bobby rolled his eyes. "I've fought in worse shape than this and you know it. What's really bugging you?" he demanded.
"Watch it, Bobby," Jean started to say warningly.
"No, he's right," Scott admitted. "The real reason I don't want him out there is he's lost his objectivity. He's got a stupid schoolboy crush on that girl, that girl who in case you've forgotten is the daughter of our mortal enemy."
"What?" Bobby's head snapped up and he stared at Scott.
"You heard me," Scott said evenly. "You've got feelings for that girl. We can't afford that sort of divided allegiance on the battlefield. Even a split second's hesitation could cost us dearly. Didn't Warren nearly dying because of you teach you that?"
Clearly, Bobby should've been paying better attention during the Ethics lecture about wrath, because now he was leaping up off the couch and towards Scott, right hand curled into a fist. "You know what? Just because you're leader of the X-Men, that doesn't mean I have to put up with crap like being called a traitor." Warren grabbed ahold of the younger boy just as Bobby was about to throw a punch at Scott.
"Go ahead," the even tone was gone now, replaced by one that was slightly mocking. "You wanna play with the big boys, you'd better be willing to back that up with a man-sized fist," Scott taunted.
Jean just facepalmed. "Boys!" she shouted. "Is this what the Professor would've wanted? The two of you at each other's throats, acting like a couple of idiots?"
"She's right," Scott admitted sheepishly, already over his momentary loss of control. "Why don't we-"
"You know what?" Yeah, Bobby wasn't calming down any time soon. "No. I'm sick of dealing with Scott's crap, you guys. I'm outta here." He wormed his way out of Warren's grasp and stormed out of the apartment, slamming the door behind him.
